BEREA, Ohio — Jordan Addison leaped while trying to catch a pass on Wednesday afternoon during joint practices between the Vikings and the Cleveland Browns. He landed awkwardly and slowly started limping toward the sideline before collapsing in pain. He appeared visibly dejected as he was carted off the field and disappeared out of sight.
All the signs seemed to indicate that the talented receiver would have to miss some time.

There’s still a lot of time for players to make a name for themselves over the next couple of weeks. That said, the Vikings are slowly starting to piece together their team, with the recent exhibition game against the Las Vegas Raiders serving as a good measuring stick.

Though that could still end up being the case, head coach Kevin O’Connell talked to a handful of reporters on his way to the team bus, noting that he doesn’t think it’s going to be anything too serious. Still, it’s unlikely that Addison will participate on Thursday afternoon when the Vikings return to action against the Browns.

“We’ll make sure we go through all the processes,” O’Connell said. “I think he’s going to be alright.”
The absence of Addison was palpable as the Vikings struggled to move the ball on offense against the Browns. If that was a sign of things to come, then the Vikings better hope Addison is back on the field sooner rather than later.
“I also am hopeful to get some good news on kind of what that timeline looks like,” O’Connell said. “I just have no idea.”
Some loud trash talk
There was definitely some trash talk going on between the Vikings and the Browns during joint practices. After a particular stretch during which the Vikings were struggling on offense, Browns safety Juan Thornhill shouted, “Y’all can’t catch a cold, man.”

That snapshot moment perfectly encapsulated how intense things were on both sides.
Not that the Vikings seemed to mind.
“Nothing even near crossing the line,” O’Connell said. “Just really good work.”
The constant popping of the pads was to be expected. This was the first time the Vikings and the Browns have been able to get some work in against somebody else in training camp.

“There was nothing stupid out there,” center Garrett Bradbury said. “We came in here and got some work in.”
That’s exactly the way O’Connell and Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski intended it to be.
“Everybody is out here to get better,” safety Cam Bynum said. “The most important thing that we can do is help the people in front of us while also keeping them safe.”
Turner returns to practice
After sitting out of the annual night practice, rookie edge rusher Dallas Turner was an active participant with the Vikings against the Browns.
ADVERTIsem*nT
Asked about Turner missing some time earlier this week, O’Connell said it was by design to make sure he was ready for joint practices.
As for the rest of the roster, some notable players that did not participate for the Vikings included veteran cornerback Shaq Griffin, veteran tight end Robert Tonyan, and rookie edge rusher Gabe Murphy, among a handful of others.
