Guide for a Better Understanding (2024)

In the later arcs, especially after Nihon and Tokyo, the story has become very complicated for the readers, since there's a lot of confusion brought up because of the "Sakuras" and "Syaorans" involved. They all look the same, making it hard to differentiate one from another.

This "guide" is meant to state some facts that are "confusing" to all readers for a better understanding. Any suggestions or contributions welcome!

Facts about Yuuko[]

• Yuuko (aka the Witch of Dimensions) is seen the first chapter when the travellers arrive to her shop, thus sending them on a journey.

• Yuuko's shop is only available to people that have wishes.

• Yuuko comments about the Staff (from CCS) and talks about Clow Reed with Watanuki. (xxxHolic Ch. 03:05) "Comrade... There will be a long time for us to be together." -thus hinting that she might be joining Clow in death soon.

• Yuuko and Clow Reed (from CCS) are the creators of the Mokona Modoki (xxxHolic Ch. 15), and they were created for the sake of "that day".

• The shop gradually deteriorates, making it easier for Fei Wong to attack her.

• Yuuko discovered Fei Wong's location and was injured by him, though this helped the travelers.

• Yuuko also suffered the same fate as Sakura, who was dying but froze in time to prevent her death. (Ch. 214)

• Yuuko's time has come to an end, and her clients can no longer remember her. (xxxHolic Ch. 180)
• Yuuko and Clow are responsible for the events in Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle: Clow had unintentionally wanted for her to stay alive, and Fei Wong tried to fulfill this wish (Ch. 220)
• Yuuko moves onto her death (Ch. 222) and meets Watanuki at this point (xxxHolic Ch. 182)

Facts about Clow Reed[]

• Yuuko and Clow Reed (from CCS) are the creators of the Mokonas Modoki (xxxHolic Ch. 15), and they were created for the sake of "that day".

• Clow Reed is revealed to be the same as King Clow, who raised real Sakura/Clone Sakura (Ch. 220). They both share the same magic circles. Clow left behind Yue and Cerberus (from CCS) in order to travel to a distorted-time Clow Country. Then he reincarnated into Eriol and Fujitaka (CCS) and the magic left was for Clone Syaoran.

• Clow is capable of traveling through dimensions, and taught this to Yukito.

• Yuuko and Clow are responsible for the events in Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle: Clow had unintentionally wanted for her to stay alive, and Fei Wong tried to fulfill this wish (Ch. 220)

• Clow Reed is also the possesor of the "tube", which was passed on intentionally to Clone Syaoran in his will and it is also the same that Fei Wong posseses. (Ch. 225)

Facts about Clone Sakura[]

• Clone Sakura was cloned from Real Sakura in the altered timeline. (Ch. 178 & Ch. 219).
• Fei Wong cloned both Sakura's body and heart/memories.
• In the Nihon arc, Sakura was stabbed by Clone Syaoran. Her body was taken by Kyle Rondart who brought it to Fei Wong.

• In the Clow's future arc, Sakura's body is merged with Real Sakura and she takes her 14-year-old form. She's wearing the same dress as she did on her 14th birthday.

• After being stabbed by Clone Syaoran, her soul "disappeared", contrary to the belief that her soul had died. (Chapter 219)

• Her soul is currently in Dream World, along with Clone Syaoran's. Yuuko brought Sakura's "heart and memories", before they disappeared, into the Dream World so that the two (Clone Sakura and Syaoran) can make a choice.

• Clone Sakura is reincarnated into an alternate version of Sakura Kinomoto, and the price for her rebirth was paid by the prices gathered by Yuuko in her shop. (Ch. 220; Ch. 222)

  

• Clone Sakura becomes "Syaoran's" mother. (Ch. 223)

• Finally, Clone Sakura disappears leaving behind a feather (a.k.a Her memories/soul) which is absorbed by the Real Sakura.

Facts about Real Sakura/Tsubasa[]

Original timeline[]

• After the 7 Day Ritual, a 7-year old Sakura was engraved with a "death seal" which was placed by Fei Wong.

• 7 years go by as "Syaoran Li" tries unsuccesfully to remove her seal, which can be seen only by him and Nadeshiko, Sakura's mother and High Priestess of Clow.

• Sakura's soul is frozen at her 7-year old form until Syaoran can take her hand.

• "Syaoran Li" meets Sakura again and tries to save her from being engraved with the "death seal". But he's unsuccesful and she merges with Clone Sakura's body. (Ch. 215)
• Clone Sakura and Real Sakura swapped bodies.
• Clone Sakura's soul/memories turn into a feather and is finally absorbed by Real Sakura.

Altered Timeline[]

• After Syaoran's wish of turning back time, the original time flow is distorted causing duality and a new timeline is created.

• Another Sakura meets Clone Syaoran and grows with him, until the age of 14 when she is cloned and swapped by Fei Wong Reed. (Ch. 001 & 178)

• Sakura is cloned as her 14-year old self. (Ch. 178 & Ch. 219)

• Her body is saved by Yuuko who brings her to the Dream World (Ch. 219)

• Sakura's soul was seen at the end of chapter 178. Her soul was in Fei Wong's tube, though it's never released or seen again.

Additional Quotes:

• It's been implied that Sakura is actually not Real Sakura's real name. (Ch. 191: 07 & Ch. 196: 03)

• The epilogue reveals that Sakura's true name is Tsubasa.

Facts about "Mother" Sakura (Sakura Li)[]

• Syaoran's mother, Sakura, has a vision of the future in her dreams- which eventually led to her son's departure to Clow Country.

• She paid her son's price with her "Star Staff" thus allowing him to travel through dimensions-only once.

• She is finally seen in the last arc in one of Yuuko's "tubes" with "Father" Syaoran. This is proven to be the same one of the first chapter.

• It's been stated that the "tube" was a world of its own, and that Yuuko's shop was created solely for their sake.

• The parents used their power to back time and seal themselves; they did this for their children's future: Syaoran and Watanuki.

• The price they paid was their ability to touch the one they love the most.

• Before Yuuko dies, she uses her remaining strength to release them both of Syaoran's parents from the tube.

Theories:[]

Mother Sakura is Clone Sakura

• Mother Sakura tells her son; that she met her "other self" in a dream, and that encouraged her. She also handed her the "Star Staff". "Even without the staff, the cards will still be right there". The Sakura we see is Sakura Kinomoto, who actually gave her the wand.

• The Clones are reincarnated into an alternate version of Sakura Kinomoto and Syaoran Li, different from the Sakura and Syaoran in CCS.
• Clone Sakura posseses the same magic circle as Sakura Kinomoto because she was reincarnated as an alternate version of her.
• She also posseses the same magic circle as Yuuko because her rebirth was paid by Yuuko's stored prices in her shop.

• The reason why Yuuko says that she never met Syaoran's parents is because of the time loop- she wouldn't be able to have met them before.

• Both Sakuras (the one in Clow and the one back in Japan) mention having met their "other self" in a dream and acquired the Star Staff during this time. (Ch. 223)

Evidence from xxxHolic

• In one chapter, Yuuko says that she want to meet the cute girl who owns the Star Staff. And in another chapter, she says that meeting the alternate version of the cute girl/Sakura in CCS is good enough, and she says that right before the TRC gang first arrive in xxxHolic World.

Facts about Clone Syaoran[]

• "Syaoran" was captured by Fei Wong Reed and therefore cloned after having made a wish of rewounding time (age 7)
• When Fei Wong cloned Syaoran it was different from when he cloned Sakura. In his case, he cloned only his body and not his heart/memories so that he could control him.

• Clone Syaoran desintegrated after Fei Wong attacked him with his magic. This led to the belief that he was dead, though Yuuko saved him and brought him to the Dream World along with Clone Sakura (and Real Sakura's body). (Ch. 219)

• The Clones are reincarnated into alternate versions of Sakura Kinomoto and Syaoran Li different from the Sakura and Syaoran in CCS.

• The price for his rebirth was paid with Clow Reed's spare magic (Ch. 220). Additionally, this is the reason why Syaoran's father posseses Clow's magic circle and why he posseses magic power.
• Clow Reed left the "tube" to Syaoran in his will.

• He desintegrates at last in the form of a feather, which was absorbed by Syaoran.

Facts about "Syaoran" Li/ Tsubasa Li[]

• "Syaoran" was sent to Clow because his mother had foreseen that "someone" was waiting for him.

• "Syaoran's" mother paid the price for his travel with the Star Staff from CCS.

• "Syaoran" was captured by Fei Wong Reed and later cloned. Since he made a wish of rewinding time, he was 7 years old when he was cloned.

• Rewinding time created Watanuki, in order to fill the void that he left to his parents.

• "Syaoran" uses the same Jian as Syaoran Li, his fatheras well as the same Shourai spells. He also posseses the same magic circle as his father.

• "Syaoran" Li is not his real name- this was a given name from his father.

• It's been revealed that Syaoran's true name is Tsubasa.

• He is a descendant of Clow Reed.

• Syaoran absorbed the Clone's feather (soul).

Facts about "Father" Syaoran[]

• Syaoran says that his father had taught him all the neccesary things to survive, since he knew they wouldn't see each other again.

• Syaoran Li is a given name- is not Syaoran's true name. This was a name given to him by his father.

• Father Syaoran gave his son the same Jian sword seen in CCS.

• Father Syaoran is a good cook.

• He is finally seen in the last arc in one of Yuuko's "tubes" with "Mother" Sakura. This is proven to be the same one of the first chapter.

• It's been stated that the "tube" was a world of its own, and that Yuuko's shop was created solely for their sake.

• The parents, using their power, turned back time, sealed themselves, all of this for their children's future: Syaoran and Watanuki.

• The price they paid was their ability to touch the one they love the most.

Father Syaoran is Clone Syaoran

• Thanks to Yuuko, the Clones were reincarnated into Sakura Kinomoto and Syaoran Li different from CCS. (Ch. 223). This is also the reason for him sharing the same magic circle as Syaoran Li from CCS.

• The price for his rebirth was paid with Clow Reed's spare magic (Ch. 220).

• Seishirou says he had met Syaoran's father. He refered to Clone Syaoran.

• Clone Syaoran says that being reincarnated turned him into Clow's relative, which is also why he acquired magical power, and why he has the same magic circle as him. (Ch. 225)

• Clone Syaoran also says that the tube was intentionally given to himin Clow's will.(Ch. 225)

• The reason why Yuuko says that she never met Syaoran's parents is because of the time loop- she wouldn't be able to have met them before- and the reincarnated clones don't remember having met her either. (Ch. 225:07)
