Just saw the production of Twelfth Night, and it was absolutely spectacular. It went above and beyond my expectations; I truly could not stop laughing. Huge props to all of the cast and crew - they were all incredible! Would absolutely recommend.
We went to see Romeo and Juliet at Shakespeare in the Park lastnight. The production was terrible! The worst I have ever seen from the FreeWill company. They rattled off the lines veryquickly with little passion or even interpretation in a lot of cases. I suppose it was because of a shortage of male actors, but almost all male parts (including Romeo) were played by young women. When the whole subtext of the feud is the machismo of young men, this did not work all that well, especially as the girls were wearing short skirts and tights. I know that Shakespeare was into some gender bending, but c'mon....this was ridiculous.Juliet's mother, strangely enough, was played by a man. And Juliet by a rather screechy young woman. Loud modern music often drowning out speeches. I had invited a couple of people who had never seen Shakespeare live, and I have to say, they were not impressed.
Attended Romeo and Juliet yesterday with two friends. Retired English profs can always find details to debate, but the overall experience was dazzling and very moving. Congratulations to all the cast and staff. And the Cristal Spiegeltent is an experience in itself: unique, shapely, historic, welcoming. We hope to see much more of it hosting Freewill Shakespeare!

Twelfth Night production was fantastic, hilarious and well acted, the performers were great singers too. The venue and parking in the lot of Edmonton Expo is convenient. The Spiegeltent is beautiful and I prefer this to Hawrelak as it feels much more intimate and comfortable.Well done it was a captivating show 👏
I've been volunteering 🙋♀️ at the Festival and also enjoyed the performance!! A new outdoor experience in the community, gives a cozy atmosphere!
